Getting to Mbweni Ruins Hotel, Zanzibar
This Zanzibar hotel is on a sheltered west coast beach, just south of Zanzibar. This Zanzibar hotel is 6 kilometres (10 minutes' drive) from Stown Town in Zanzibar and 4 kilometres (5 minutes' drive) from the Zanzibar Airport.
If you are planning to drive from Dar es Salaam to the Ruaha, it will take about 12 hours. It is recommended to do it in easy stages, stopping at Mikumi on the way up and possibly at Udzungwa on the way back to Dar es Salaam. Driving in Tanzania is fun for the adventurous, but you will need an International Drivers' Licence.
Dar es Salaam is also served by Air India, Air Malawi, Air Tanzania, British Airways, Emirates Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines, Egypt Air, Kenya Airways, KLM, Oman Air, South African Airways/ATC, Swiss International Airlines, (via Nairobi) and Yemen Air. Many Airlines fly regularly into Zanzibar, including Air Oman, Air Tanzania, Egypt Air, Gulf Air and Kenya Airways. Italy, Spain and Switzerland have charter flights directly to Zanzibar.
There are particularly frequent direct flights from Italy, both from Milan Malpensa and from Rome Fiumicino. Both these airports are well connected to other cities in Europe by charter and scheduled airlines and may offer a viable alternative to scheduled flights with stop overs.
