Twisted Palms is a place for relaxation and peace, candlelit dinners and dips in the warm azure sea. Friendly staff can arrange for guests to swim with dolphins or visit the exotic spice plantations on a Zanzibar holiday.
Bwejuu beach is one of quite a few beaches strung together on the lower east coast of the Island. Picture miles of dazzling white sand for as far as the eye can see and various small fishing villages. Twisted Palms is located on a quiet beach close to Bwejuu village, it is easy for guests to explore the area on a Zanzibar holiday.
Zanzibar has a fascinating history, great sailing nations as far back as the Assyrians have dropped anchor here - the Arabs decided to stay and command a major trading centre for many years. Stone Town is the old town and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Many buildings were long ago constructed using coralline rock, sadly a great deal of them now have eroded away.
The city has changed little in the past 200 years and consists of twisting and meandering alleys, fabulous carved wooden doors, busy bazaars, mosques and grand houses from a bygone era. Visitors can purchase lots of interesting items in the markets, including silk and also savour the incredible array of spices. A Stone Town tour is a must for visitors to the island.
Another popular excursion is to Jozani Forest, where the endangered Red Colobus Monkey can be seen; there are sunny nature walks which are a good way to view the wildlife. Spice Tours take guests to the places where the spices are harvested and where cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla trees can be seen in abundance.
